One man's trash ...

Is another man's treasure.
Picked up an '09 e-machine with vista installed.

To protect the previous owner and his/her data still on the hard drive carelessly tossed to the curb for the trash-man,(In Florida they are not suppose to take it because of hazardous materials
contained within) I nuked the hard drive.
Took the better part of the day, but I physically cleaned every inch inside. Had to scrape gunk from the fan blades, pull off the fan with heat sinc from over the CPU, clean the heat sinc and the CPU.
Thought for a minute there that I'd have to take the power supply apart to get the fan moving on it. (have a few extra power supplies in case it didn't work). Took the front plastic casing off to fix the DVD/CD player door.
One bay has a nice digital media center

Wa-La! new hard drive.
Using my OEM Windows 7, I now have a nice clean, refurbished computer.
SATA II  250 GB with room for 2 additional hard-drives
AMD 64 Dual core. Gig of DDR2 RAM
2 USB ports front and four in the back.
Lots of room for expansion

The BIGGEST killer of electronics is dirt.

My cost, a little time, a can of air and a few ounces of rubbing alcohol.
